After living in a house with floorboards in Melbourne during our unforgiving and fickle wintery season, one finds a fond appreciation for a little cushioning underfoot. A plush pile tickle to the morning under-sides of my un-socked feet far outweighs the 'easy-cleaning' benefits any pompous polished floorboard is going to offer me.
That being said, whoever the genius was who thought of rugs (and lets be honest this fine citizen was probably responsible for it's consquent descendent and aforementioned friend, carpet) needs a decent handshake. (It's the going rate for being a excellent human being these days.)
Not only do rugs provide many-a-cosy-foot-moment, they also provide vast improvements in managing a room's thermal issues, dampening the inner vibrations of a stomping elephant housemate issues and they can completely change the look of a room.
Well done rollable, rugged, floor friends!
Now that I have spent all that time praising my apartment for its carpeted landscape, there is a little bit of me that wishes (for the sake of the amazing pieces above) that it were a more like my polished boardish foes - but only a little bit.
Floors have feelings too - I just prefer mine to feel comfy.
